Are you looking for a perfect fall getaway? Well, let me tell you about our recent mini vacation! Our destination was?the Shores of Panama located on the beautiful beaches of Panama City Beach Florida! It was the perfect place to unwind and get our toes in the sand! Panama City Beach is a beautiful area known for their?(white) sugar sand?beaches and emerald water.

?

?

?

It is a stunning resort that has everything from an indoor pool, spa, health fitness gym, a kids activity room, a resort styled outdoor swimming pool retreat and more.?It's steps away from the beautiful?blue of The Gulf of Mexico and lots of entertainment!

??????

Master Bedroom
We had a one bedroom suite, with a king size bed, dresser, double closet and a single closet.? The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were smooth and soft. The furniture was white and it was a traditional design. There was?a lot of storage in the dresser and the closets. A family would have plenty of room if they were staying for an extended time.?Our bedroom featured a?flat screen TV with DVD and I'm sure I would have curled up with a movie if I hadn't exhausted myself with all the Shores had to offer!?As with most condominiums,?remember that all rooms may be furnished and decorated differently. If you have special requests, you should contact the front desk before check-in. ?

The?en suite had a tub and shower combination, commode and one sink. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and I had plenty of room to get ready without bumping into walls or the shower curtain. The bathroom was also clean and well maintained.?Thick, white?towels were supplied. They were really soft and absorbent! There are plenty of bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths for the two bathrooms. If you? happen to run out before the end of your stay, you will need to utilize the washer & dryer in your unit. I loved having a washer and dryer in the unit. Ordinarily, I wouldn't want to "work" while on vacation by doing my laundry. At the same time, ?I also wouldn't want to carry home a suitcase full of sand. If you are there to enjoy the sand and water, you'll appreciate this little luxury. I don't think of sand as a souvenir I want to take home in my bags! If you use the laundry room, you will need laundry detergent and?any other laundry items you usually use.?We took some laundry powder that we measured into Ziplock bags. I was happy I did!
Off the hallway, a little nook?housed the?bunk beds. It was an open area, but the hallway offered some privacy.?It's close to the second private bath, which is great if you have kids because they don't have to go far!

?The second private bath has a shower, commode and one sink. It's a great bonus feature and if you have a family, it would enable everyone to get ready for the beach or clean up afterwards without too much trouble.?There are starter sets of bath soap in the bathrooms, but you will need to bring your own soaps, shampoo's etc. to have enough for your stay.

?

?

?

Open concept floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living areas.

?

The kitchen?is furnished with full size stove, refrigerator (you have to turn your ice maker on when you arrive in the room), and a dishwasher.? Our unit included a set of dishes, glasses, cookware, utensils, coffeepot, microwave, toaster, kitchen towels and two packs of dishwasher powder. I think we had enough glasses and plates for eight guests. You need to furnish any extra dishwasher powder, dishwashing liquid, and paper towels, along with any food, coffee, and drinks.?There are trash chutes?at each end of the building near the stairwells.??It's requested that you?do not leave any trash in the unit or the hallways, and you are to bag and dispose of all trash using the trash chutes when you leave. Since they are so?conveniently located, it's an easy task to handle on your way out.?

?

The living room? area has a dining table and chairs, a pullout sofa sleeper and a matching chair. There is a flat screen TV with cable and a DVD player in the living room.?The Shores of Panama offers?complimentary in-room hard-wired Internet service and wireless service available at the poolside. The end of the living area is totally glass with sliding glass doors from floor to ceiling,. This gives such an awesome view of the ocean from the living space. When you are out on your balcony, you will enjoy the most beautiful sunsets you could ever imagine.??We sat outside and watched dolphins and rays in the shallows. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon!
?Standing on the balcony outside, as far as we could see to the left and right, were views of gorgeous sand and?emerald water. We looked straight ahead and only saw an endless sea. There are many eateries, shopping areas, and entertainment located within walking distance to the Shores of Panama. Pineapple Willy's is right next door too! It was a nice treat to be able to leave the car parked and walk (easily) to so many places!

While you enjoy your stay, check out their Spa! They offer a wide range of services and will personalize your treatment!

Bridges connect the island?to the outer perimeter of the pool and hot tub. The Shores at Panama boasts 13,966-square-feet of decking surrounding a 292,000 gallon lagoon pool that flows beneath two bridges.?I honestly couldn't decide if I wanted to spend the day at the beach or pool. This was amazing and the beauty of it all is enough to wash? most of the stress from your body! The?the gulf-side hot tub, tucked behind a stacked stone privacy wall, will take care of the rest.

?The pool deck?boasts several areas of luxury furniture including lounge chairs, bar stools, daybeds and cabanas.?It's a warm weather wonderland and you'll never want to leave. The Cabana Grille and the Sol Bar are located in this outdoor area.?
    ?

  • The Sol Bar ? A shady oasis that graces the pool deck, the bar offers frozen drinks, specialty drinks, beer, wine, soda and water for a relaxing cool down.
  • The Cabana Grille ? Located on the glorious pool deck of the Shores of Panama, the seasonal tiki hut grill offers a wide variety of delicious appetizers, sandwiches, salad, pizza and hot dogs to gratify your hungry beach appetite.

  • You can grab a?drink?and a bite to eat?then soak up the rays of the?sun or watch the?afternoon fade into a beautiful sunset.?You and your family will want to enjoy this area for hours.

This is an absolute wonderful place to stay and relax. Whether you choose to stay in your room (with a view), take a dip or lounge in the resort pool area, or enjoy any of the other adventures around the Shores of Panama, just know you will HAVE FUN!

so i?ve got a question for you. my boyfriend and i have been dating for 4 years. last year he came home with me to spend christmas with my family ? which was a big step for his parents considering it was his first christmas away. i?m very used to switching back and forth because my parents are divorced, so my mom and dad took turns on the holidays.

anyway?the holidays are coming up quick and it made me realize that i didn?t really know where i was going to end up for christmas. do you wait till marriage to switch off every year? when did that start happening for you in your relationship? are you together for christmas, but apart for thanksgiving? it?s all very interesting to me. with my family across the country you have to decide these things way earlier on your calendar.

Cameleon ? What Shall We Do For Business Marketing?

    Business: Marketing

If website marketing is important to a business, the first thing to focus on is having a web design that not only stands out among the users, but also the search engines. If a business already has an impressive web design, it must focus on identifying the right online marketing channels for promoting the website in Sydney. With SEO solutions, a business can get the website ranked on a search engine for search queries that users will type to find its product or service. For instance, if a company sells cakes in Sydney, then it can get ranked on the search engines for queries. SEO Sydney solutions can further be narrowed down to specific neighborhoods in the region for businesses operating on a very small scale.?

The online businesses do need an effective and strong marketing tool to showcase the products and services. SEO Service Adelaide makes your business workable and profitable by utilizing the various online marketing tools. Acquiring good ranking in search engines elevates the customer trust for you. SEO is considered reliable and effective as it is not geographically limited and it targets both local and global network. The proper implementation of the technique can yield great results which small and medium businesses would have ever imagined.

Competition has driven SEO agency in the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia to outsource offshore. As the world economy is doing right now, it is not surprising that the economic cost-cutting measures have become a priority for companies around the world. Thus, the price or cost has raised the most important consideration when companies decide what to choose outsourcing. Additionally, outsourcing companies reduce costs, and explore their ability to work cheaper. Offshore outsourcing seems to be the only possible solution, so they could stay in the race. Business marketing needs professional seo services, finding the seo company that can provide local seo services.?

Alarming increase in malignant melanoma on the west coast of Sweden

Alarming increase in malignant melanoma on the west coast of Sweden [ Back to EurekAlert! ] Public release date: 22-Oct-2012

Malignant melanoma is as much as 35% more common among people who live in Gothenburg and the region's coastal municipalities than those who live inland. Researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, have found that the number of malignant melanoma cases in the Vstra Gtaland region has quadrupled since 1970.

Malignant melanoma has become increasingly common in the Western world over the past few decades. One of the biggest factors has been excessive and unprotected sunbathing despite widespread awareness of the health risks.

Melanoma takes a long time, sometimes several decades, to develop. For that reason, sunbathing habits from many years ago still affect a person's risk level.

According to a new study by researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, the number of melanoma cases in the Vstra Gtaland region has quadrupled among men and tripled among women since 1970.

"This represents a relative increase of more than 3% per year," says Magdalena Claeson, a researcher at Sahlgrenska Academy who participated in the study. "The increase in the region was considerably above average for the entire country."

The study found that 35% more men and 25% more women developed malignant melanoma in Gothenburg than in the inland municipalities. Fifteen per cent more women developed the disease in the coastal municipalities than inland.

One explanation is that inhabitants of Gothenburg and the coastal municipalities are exposed to the sun for more hours a day. A 2007 study conducted by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare found that inhabitants of Gothenburg and the coastal municipalities tend to take longer summer holidays in sunny countries and spend more time outdoors when abroad. Meanwhile, they are more likely to work indoors when they are in Sweden.

"The latest research suggests that melanoma is caused by this type of intermittent exposure to the sun," Magdalena Claeson says. "In other words, people get sunburned during their summer holiday and spend a lot of time indoors for the rest of the year."

The results have convinced the researchers that more preventive resources should be appropriated for the Vstra Gtaland region, particularly Gothenburg and the coastal municipalities.

"Among the measures likely to prove effective are educational initiatives among schoolchildren and sun protection information for people who travel abroad," Claeson says.

Prehistoric Flamingo Nest, Eggs Discovered In Spain

    By: Megan Gannon, News Editor
Published: 10/19/2012 08:31 AM EDT on LiveScience

A fossil bird's nest has been discovered in Spain, cradling at least five eggs that scientists believe belonged to an ancient flamingo some 18 million years ago.

The nest was found in a limestone block in the Ebro Basin in northeastern Spain. The researchers think it was abandoned and sunk to the bottom of a shallow, salty lake (which once also housed snakes, turtles and crocodiles) before being covered in mud and fossilizing during the early Miocene.

Scans of the eggshell fragments revealed microscopic features that closely match that of the modern flamingo's eggs. However, the type of nest the eggs sit in is much different from the type the birds build today.

Modern flamingos make muddy volcano-shaped nests with a single, large egg in each, but this ancient nest was made from twigs and leaves and holds several eggs. The researchers said the nest actually looks more like those of modern grebes, diving birds that build floating platform nests, which typically hold three to eight eggs and are anchored to the bottom of a lake with aquatic plants.

Though they have very different reproductive and nesting behaviors, flamingos and grebes are closely related. This new fossil then might indicate that the grebe-style nest is ancestral to this group of birds and that, over time, modern flamingos diverged, developing their volcano-shaped nests, the researchers said.

The team, led by paleontologist Gerald Grellet-Tinner, reported their findings Oct. 17 in the journal PLoS ONE. (Grellet-Tinner is affiliated with the National Council of Research and Technology in Argentina, The Field Museum, Chicago, and The Journey Museum in South Dakota.)

Hotel official: Fidel Castro appears in public

HAVANA (AP) ? Fidel Castro has appeared in public for the first time in months, a top hotel executive told The Associated Press on Sunday, challenging persistent rumors that the aging revolutionary is near death.

The 86-year-old leader dropped off a Venezuelan guest at the Hotel Nacional on Saturday afternoon, then stayed for about half an hour to chat with hotel staff, commercial director Yamila Fuster said.

"Fidel Castro was here yesterday, he brought a guest and spoke to workers and hotel leaders for 30 minutes," Fuster said. She said she was not present but that the news was being released officially by the state-owned establishment.

"They told me he looked very good. He was wearing a checked shirt and a hat," she said.

Fuster would not release the name of the Venezuelan guest, but witnesses at the hotel say former Venezuelan Vice President Elias Jaua is staying there. A car with Venezuelan diplomatic plates was parked Sunday outside the hotel.

No photos have yet been released, but Fuster said they may be soon.

Asked to confirm the news, the Cuban government referred all questions to the hotel.

The Nacional is Cuba's most famous hotel and a common choice of many distinguished guests to the island.

Castro's health has been the subject of intense speculation in recent days. He has not appeared on television or publically since March, when he was shown greeting visiting Pope Benedict XVI.

How You Can Successfully Market Your Business | Eric Chua : Life ...

Online marketing is a technique used by many businesses and individuals to sell their products and services. Website marketing involves using advertising, search engine optimization and other methods that will generate interest and sales. Read on to find out how you can launch your own web marketing campaign.

Make sure your website?s tag defines the primary focus of your site. The title tag shows at the top left corner of the browser window. The text there conveys exactly who you are to the potential viewer. Having a bad or confusing tag can make potential customers take off when they might have made a purchase.

If you want to gain PageRank quickly, promote a limited-time offer. You can also ?buy? PageRank by getting deal sites and consumer news sites to link to your page. This is just like making a sale on a loss leader product.

TIP! Change your headlines and add relevant content often. Keep a record of how those changes affect the traffic generated on your site.

Power up your affiliate marketing! Make sure your main page has a good description. On this page, your focus should be on selling your product. It should be clear to the visitor what you?re promoting immediately upon visiting your site. If your viewer needs to dig deep for what they need, they?ll leave quickly.

With every completed order send a copy of your catalog to your customer. This is a good business practice that shows customers similar items available from your company. As an illustrative instance, if your site sells shoes and a customer purchases a pair of boots, provide them with links to the other boots you offer. The more you tailor your offerings to their past purchases, the higher your sales will be.

Always look for ways to garner feedback from your site?s visitors. This is often critical in determining your success, as how you perceive things is not always the same as how others see them. Get feedback from peers, potential clients and even family members. Use this advice to help you decide what to change in your marketing campaign.

TIP! Your competition plays a big role in your Internet marketing campaign. Research what your competition is doing and the things that are helping them as well as hurting them.

By having a good internet marketing plan, it will be easy for you to know what type of products are profitable. Using these profitable products can help you convince consumers to buy other products you market. If you carry complimentary products advertise them as such to make an additional sale. You may even offer a discount for buying the two products together. Any product that is complimentary to your main sellers will get a boost because they don?t require as much promotion as anything unrelated would.

Try giving people another reason to visit your site other than for your business. This can bring a lot of traffic your way as people come to communicate with others who are interested in your products. This helps to keep your website at the front of people?s minds. Give people graphics they can use on their websites to advertise their memberships; it?s free advertising.

To compete with today?s type of website marketing, you need to open a social media profile on popular sites. Be careful not to spam people, however, as MySpace has cracked down on such actions, occasionally suing spammers for online harassment.

TIP! Offering visitors to your website something that they can?t get elsewhere encourages more visits to your site. Offer an interesting, free screensaver related to your company that contains your website name, and advice or information about uses or upkeep for your product or service.

Check out what your competition is up to. Take a look at the websites of your competitors to see what is offered. You can also get a good estimate of how many visitors they have, which allows you to gauge how your site is doing.

Although you should feature current headlines, try to make yours stand out from the rest. Your headlines should be both informative (sharing news about important new products and offers) and catchy. You should try to make them as visual as possible. Sometimes a photo or a graphic is the most professional way to headline an article.

Use tools that can determine how many of your visitors become paying customers so that you can see if your marketing efforts are working. Many of the bigger online companies have tracking meters available that will show you the precise number of visitors in comparison with buyers and repeat visitors.
These web analysis products are designed to suit a number of uses and easily integrate with you sites per-existing software.

TIP! Wherever it is possible for you to use a signature online, be certain to link back to your business. If you post to a forum, add your link to your signature so that it will be seen every time one of your posts is read.

Here is an important web marketing tip. Make sure your customers know that your site is super secure and that their personal data is not at risk! You need to include a link to your privacy policy at the top right corner of the page. These guarantees are a great way to gain the confidence of consumers that are iffy about shopping online. You will protect their identities when they buy your product!

Advertising is essential for marketing your net online business. The money spent on advertising will pay for itself because it creates recognition of your brand, thus increasing sales. The more you advertise, the more likely people are going to notice it and become potential customers.

In conclusion, many businesses use Internet marketing to sell products and services. Internet promotion uses methods such as search engine optimization and advertising to generate sales interest. If you remember the advice in this article, you can use Web marketing to seriously boost interest in your own products and services.

TIP! Be certain to follow up with all clients. Try to solicit consumer reviews or surveys within two weeks of purchase.

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) Productive [Productivity]

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) ProductiveThere are tons of clich? wisdoms about nutrition: Eat at least five servings of fruit every day. Drink plenty of water. Eat three separate meals. Do this, do that, that's "healthy." What's true? Buffer co-founder Leo Widrich explores the science behind what we eat and how it affects the brain's performance.

Every seven years, the body will change completely. This means that each and every one of your cells will have been renewed and exchanged for another one that your body has produced. I am always amazed by this. Science suggests that this gives us a unique chance to change and erase any mistakes we've made in the past. How? Through a focus on the food we eat. Fortunately we don't have to wait seven years. Day-to-day changes in our diet can have a massive impact on our productivity. Something like this:

"Adequate nutrition can raise your productivity levels by 20 percent on average." -WHO

How food interacts with your brain

One of the most fascinating things about eating is how various ingredients enter the brain through your blood stream. The elements that make it through to power your brain will help you to either focus or lose focus.

Most of what we eat will be broken down to one thing: Glucose. Glucose is our fuel, keeping our brains awake and alert. So at all times, we have a certain glucose level in our blood (kind of like gasoline in a car).

The most important part here is that we are in full control of how we release glucose to our blood and our brains. Certain foods release glucose quickly, while others do so more slowly, yet sustainably. Researcher Leigh Gibson found this to be optimal:

"The brain works best with about 25 grams of glucose circulating in the blood stream?about the amount found in a banana."

The way you can get those 25 grams of glucose into your blood stream is pretty easy. You can eat a donut. You can eat a small bowl of oats. There is virtually no difference in the very short term for your brain activity.

Over the stretch of a normal 8-hour day however, the differences are spectacular. After eating the donut, we will release glucose into our blood very quickly. We will have about 20 minutes of alertness. Then our glucose level will drop rapidly, leaving us unfocused and easy to distract. It's like putting the foot down on the gas pedal until you've used all your fuel.

The oats, on the other hand, release their sugar as glucose much slower. This means we will have a steady glucose level, better focus, and higher attention levels. Another important factor are your Leptin levels. Leptin will signal to your brain how full you are. If you are now guessing that a donut won't signal your brain to be full for a long time, while oats will, well, you are right.

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) Productive

What we are also measuring here as the difference between a donut and a bowl of oats is called your "glycemic index," coined by the Franklin Institute:

"Foods with a low glycemic index number gradually release glucose into your bloodstream. This gradual release helps minimize blood sugar swings and optimizes brainpower and mental focus."

In fact, the lowest glycemic index of all comes from soy, at only 18, and the highest comes with white rice, at 88. [Check out more from Lifehacker on how eating affects your brain.]

What really matters with eating: when, where, and who you're with

That's funny. We're going through all this stuff about blood streams and brain fueling only to find out it doesn't actually matter?

Rest assured, it still matters, yet the context of when, where, and with whom we eat has an equally powerful impact on our eating activities, and hence, our creativity.

Let's start with the "when." The most important part here is that you make sure you are never hungry. To put this better: Hungry judges give harsher sentences.

For our case, being hungry or skipping breakfast can ruin several hours of your productivity until you get your first bite. Let's take a look at this study:

All the children in a class were told to skip breakfast one morning, and then, by random assignment, half of the children were given a good breakfast at school. The others got nothing. During the first part of the morning, the children who got breakfast learned more and misbehaved less (as judged by monitors who didn't know which children had eaten). Then, after all the students were given a healthy snack in the middle of the morning, the differences disappeared as if by magic.

Eric Barker, one of the best productivity bloggers out there, put it like this: "Across the board, yeah, food puts you in a better mood. To be more exact, research has shown that two cheeseburgers = one orgasm."

Using context to control your eating is one of the most important aspects. If you are like me, you always end up eating portions that are too big, which makes me overly full at lunch and very tired a few hours afterwards.

One of the best proven techniques here is to eat from a smaller plate. Why? Because Delboeuf told us so a long time ago with his illusion experiment of thinking the right circle looks bigger:

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) Productive

The portion on the smaller plate will always fill you up more. This can make the difference of an hour of productivity gained each day, simply by reducing the size of your plate and being less full. Joining the small plate movement is definitely something worth trying.

Another aspect comes in regarding the people you are with as Barker points out: "Eating with overweight friends? You'll eat more. Is your waitress overweight? You'll eat more. Are you a woman eating with a man? You'll eat less. Wide variety of food? You'll eat more."

Three most important aspects to get the most out of eating food

It's time to get our hands dirty. I think we've got a basic understanding of how food determines our daily output. But what are the best ways to act on this information?

Reorganize the positioning of food stored in your cupboard: One of the most interesting aspects about eating is that we are extremely likely to eat what is in close sight. In fact, famous researcher Brian Wansink mentions that, "You are three times more likely to eat the first thing you see in your cupboard than the fifth thing you see." Make sure you organize your food in way that brain powering foods get more exposure. It's an incredible trick to start eating better food that will give you more daily alertness.

Learn to graze: From the first section in this post, we've learned that the brain needs very specific portions of food. Too much will give you a spike that rapidly declines. Too little won't bring your brain up to speed. A great way to go about it, I've found, is to make your three daily meals a bit smaller (potentially by making the plates smaller), and then add two very specific, healthy snacks in between meals to keep your brain plugging away at full speed. This way you don't have to change your core habits too much, yet can still fuel up your brain efficiently.

These foods will give your brain the most power: Here is a great list of brain powering foods that you can eat, especially for snacking. The WHO particularly emphasizes the following: dark chocolate, nuts, seeds, and fish.

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) Productive

Some further brain powering foods are the following: blueberries, raw carrots, whole grains, and avocado.

How the Food You Eat Makes You More (or Less) Productive

Quick last fact: What you eat will also decide your grandchildren's productivity

As a last quick tip, here is something that blew my mind. Yes, what you eat will affect your productivity today. But even more so, it will determine the productivity of your children and grandchildren's productivity. "Evidence indicates that what you eat can affect your grandchildren's brain molecules and synapses," G?mez-Pinilla said. What you eat can, according to Gomez-Pinilla, rewire your genes, and the more you strengthen the synaptic connections, the better your kids and their kids will perform.

Note: We wrote yesterday about the food organization tricks Leo mentions above. Check out that post here.

Afghan woman beheaded for refusing to become prostitute

Aref Karimi / AFP - Getty Images

Najibullah, who confessed to murdering his cousin's wife, Mahgul, 25, walks handcuffed with two Afghanistan security personnel in Herat on Oct. 15, 2012. Afghan police have arrested four people who allegedly forced a woman into prostitution in western Afghanistan and beheaded her after she refused, officials said.

    By Tazeen Ahmad, NBC News

The decapitation of a young woman who resisted being forced into prostitution by her own family has led to the arrests of four Afghans, and shocked a country that has seen its share of violence over decades of war.?

Mahgul, a 25-year-old newlywed, was murdered in Herat, a region of western Afghanistan where attacks against women have been on the rise, Afghan?police told journalists. Her killing this past week was particularly disturbing because her body was found decapitated outside her marital home.

Police said the arrests on Saturday include her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and her husband.

The fourth individual is reported to be her husband?s cousin, who was arrested later after witnesses said he was seen with a bloody knife outside the house at the time the murder took place. The 18-year-old, identified only as Najibullah, confessed to the crime in front of reporters and television cameras, saying his aunt, Parigul, forced him to kill Mahgul.

Thousands of UK troops to quit Afghanistan in '13

?My uncle?s wife told me I should kill this person,? he told reporters. ?I couldn?t kill her. She told me, ?if you can?t kill her, then help me do it.? She forced me and I helped her.??

He described how his aunt held Mahgul down by the legs as he beheaded her.?Najibullah said his aunt told him she wanted the bride dead "'because she doesn?t listen to me.'"

Joint US-Afghan operations are becoming more common, and so are the risks. NBC's Lester Holt reports.

Police said their investigation has led them to conclude Mahgul was killed because she refused to become a prostitute and that during her four months of marriage she was repeatedly pressured by her mother-in-law to sleep with other men.

Mahgul?s immediate family were the ones to discover her body. They joined protests outside a police station in Herat, where dozens of women?s rights activists were protesting about delays in charging suspects in murder cases such as Mahgul's.

Ryan wades deep into lengthy Afghanistan argument?

This murder follows the discovery of another case in the region earlier this month, in which the body of a 30-year-old woman was found with her nose, ears and fingers removed. ?

Amnesty International said Mahgul?s murder was one of many violent incidents against women and girls in the region. The Herat region, which borders Iran, was once known for its liberal treatment of women but has become increasingly conservative in the past decade. ?

Buzkashi: World?s toughest sport or source of hope?

At least 700 cases of violence against Herat women have been documented in the past year, according to estimates by the Department of Women?s Affairs in Herat. Cases include domestic violence, torture, murder and physical mutilation.

Sayed Abdul Qadir Rahimi, regional director for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission in Western Afghanistan, told NBC News that violence against women was on the rise and that countless more cases go unreported.

Victoria Nuland, a spokeswoman for the State Department, said in a briefing that the United States would continue working with the Afghan government to advance women and girls? rights.

"All of our international efforts are designed to create the structures and institutions of the Afghan state to help protect these rights going forward," Nuland said. "But it?s a long road, and we?re going to have to keep working on it. And as we?ve said, even as we wind down the combat mission, our civilian programs are going to continue in Afghanistan."

'American Horror Story': Did the season 2 premiere measure up to last year's episodes?

'American Horror Story' returns for its second season with the story now centered on an asylum.

    By Kevin Yeoman,?Screen Rant / October 18, 2012

As someone who enjoyed watching, but wasn?t exactly over the moon with season 1 of American Horror Story, I must admit considerable interest to hearing that its creators, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, had set the series up to be an anthology ? the second helping of which would, of course, become American Horror Story: Asylum. And while the revelation that the Harmon family?s story had reached its conclusion was arguably more interesting than the story surrounding the actual Harmon family, it did offer a clue about what to expect from a narrative stand point, once season 2 got underway.

Screen Rant had a humble start back in 2003 as a place to rant about some of the dumber stuff related to the movie industry. The goal at Screen Rant is to cover stories and review movies from a middle ground/average person perspective.

Season 1 was chock-full of every little bit of madness Murphy and Falchuk could scrounge up; there were whiffs of various film influences ? both in and out of the horror genre ? and enough gore, violence and jump scares to consider the series aptly named. Still, as the series trudged on, there was the overwhelming sense that it was burning the candle at both ends, so to speak ? which was followed by the disclosure that American Horror Story was (and always had been?) intended to be an anthology series. This is important because, while season 1 ran at a breakneck pace for 13 episodes, the audience was left wondering just how it would all come together at the end, and what that would mean for the future of the series. Viewers entered into the series unaware that watching a dead family gather around a Christmas tree would not just be the end of the season, but the end of that particular story, as well.

As Asylum kicks off, it does so with the audience prepared for whatever storyline may be awaiting them to likely come to an actual conclusion. Therefore, the normal sense of exhilaration that comes from watching a television season reach its finale, and all that entails for the continuation of the story, is no longer an issue for AHS; the audience knows that once it?s done, it?s done. That will pose an interesting set of challenges for Murphy and Falchuk as they enter season 2.

And so, with the premiere episode, ?Welcome to Briarcliff,? the first thing most viewers will notice is how the writers have chosen to display their lunacy in a much more controlled fashion. That?s not to say the show has suddenly learned some manners, or bothered to look up the definition of the word ?subtle,? but it just feels more like everyone is in on the joke now, everyone gets that the writers will ride this thing as hard as they can until its heart explodes, and then we?ll all just continue on with our business.

In season 1, it felt as though the madness was random, and a little rushed ? which likely increased its appeal with some viewers. The storyline was largely an indiscriminate collection of horror movie tropes and freaky circumstances with equally unusual denouements that all danced around a central theme of a broken family who had unwittingly moved into a haunted house. In Asylum, Murphy and Falchuk are still inviting a whole host of bizarre images into a single structure, but this time is seems for a far more precise purpose. Perhaps that?s because they?re not burdened with making Jessica Lange?s character more central to the story after the fact, but mostly it?s because the writers have apparently had the proper time to arrange and organize the proceedings into a more cohesive whole.

Asylum begins with a twist on the kind of cold open that began season 1. Instead of beginning in the past, witnessing a gruesome even and then flashing forward, the open starts off with newlyweds Leo (Adam Levine) and Theresa (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) stopping off at Briarcliff in the midst of their tour of supposedly haunted places in America. After things get off to a good start, they quickly turn sour and the two wind up facing the institution?s most endearing legend in the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. The storyline then jumps back to 1964, and quickly introduces us to its characters, paying particular attention to Kit Walker (Evan Peters) and Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson), as they?re really the only two who need to find their way into the confines of the Briarcliff sanitarium and the clutches of its professed director, Sister Jude (Jessica Lange). Through Sister Jude, the episode manages to spell out the majority of the relationships at Briarcliff, which include Jude?s put-upon and callow fellow nun, Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe), the brilliant, but demented Dr. Arthur Arden (James Cromwell) and the object of Sister Jude?s lust, Monsignor Timothy Howard (Joseph Fiennes). There?s also a trio of more-or-less permanent guests at the facility played by Chloe Sevigny, Mark Consuelos and Lizzie Brocher?. That?s a lot of characters, and we still won?t see Zachary Quinto until episode 2.

As Murphy and Falchuk stated, season 1 was a family drama. As such, Asylum is very much all about the workplace, and all the interesting relationships that can arise from that kind of setting. Here, though, the characters feel wholly about their own personal journey, as it relates to them and to the larger question of the season ? which, apparently, is about aliens, mutants, demons and the aforementioned Bloody Face. They have aspirations and dreams, and often those don?t mesh to well with their environment, or the other people around them ? whichever side of the locked door they happen to be on ? and that goes a long way in making them interesting.

Perhaps it?s even more surprising then that Asylum is also concerned with societal shifts and the changing worldview of the time.

And in typical Murphy and Falchuk fashion, those concerns are made apparent through incredibly broad statements that have all the inspired flare of a high-school textbook. But still, bluntly shining the spotlight on things like interracial marriages, homosexual relationships, the conflict of science vs. faith, and, as the season progresses, likely a whole lot more, is the kind of thing these guys do, and it provides a much sturdier groundwork for the season than what was presented in the first few episodes of season 1.

Besides, American Horror Story isn?t about the careful and considered study of its otherwise wacky characters ? the show gleefully (no pun intended) doesn?t have time for that; it?s too busy filling each episode with a series of ecstatic jump scares, gore and hilariously inane, over-the-top antics that are the real attraction of the series. It?s just intended to be a fun ride. While there?s no telling if it?ll stay on the course it has plotted, Asylum looks ready to gallop through even the craziest bits ? all the way to the bitter end.

Presidential Debate News, Economics, etc. - TruthSeeker24's anti ...

TruthSeeker24's anti-N.W.O. corner: Presidential Debate News, Economics, etc.

    Presidential Debate News, Economics, etc.

The second televised Presidential debate in 2012 was more emotional. This was the greatest debate in televised Presidential history as George Will said. Both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney stood at each other to talk about many domestic and foreign policy matters. Regardless of what we think about the 2 party system, the President stood up like a man to debunk many of the lies and deception presented by Mitt Romney. President Barack Obama easily and handily defeated Mitt Romney in the debate. Polls show it and people know it. Like in every debate, Mitt Romney told numerous lies and President Barack Obama still believed in the war mongering rhetoric of neo-imperialism. Romney said that he wants to get the Pell Grants growing, but the Ryan budget will cut Pell Grants. Romney claimed that his plan will create 12 million new jobs in four years and rise take home pay. The Washington Post?s in house fact checker said that the math doesn?t add up to that claim. Romney claim that now, oil production is down 14 percent on federal land and gas production is down 9 percent. That?s a lie. Overall, oil production is up 10.6 percent from 2008 to 2011 (from 566 million barrels in 2008 to 626 million barrels in 2011). In the current administration, there are 241 million more barrels of oil produced form public land than in the last 3 years of the Bush administration. Mitt Romney (whose advisors are neo-conservatives or war mongers) refuses to support a moderate Paycheck Fairness Act, which will give women the right to sue for equal pay. Mitt Romney opposes the stimulus when a centrist stimulus now has created ca. 3 million jobs by that stimulus alone. Romney lied and said that the President engaged in an apology tour. These are just a few of the lies he shown and the President refuted him on these issues. On economics, both men promoted solutions within the system. They try to present themselves as representatives of the common man. Yet, they will not go into extreme populism (or a radical redistribution of economic and political power) for fear of losing votes from certain constituencies. Each talked about the middle class, but the poor never received a mention. It?s seems like the concerns of the poor have been ignored by numerous debates in the Presidential arena for years. Reactionaries like Alex Jones and crew will talk about threats to assassinate Romney (which I don?t agree with and I think that?s sick. Regardless of who is President in November, a real person doesn?t threaten assassination about people). On the other hand, Alex Jones? crew ignore the record death threats against the current President Barack Obama. You will notice that Alex Jones and crew ignore the shot fired in a Obama campaign center in Colorado or the people arrested for trying to assassinate the President in real life (beyond Twitter). They use agitation about riots and reactionary rhetoric as a means to promote division (and try to intimidate people into following the old policies of pro-corporate interests including laissez faire capitalism). You will notice that they will not support union rights, progressive human freedoms, and they ignore how Austrian economics is supported by the establishment (Rockefeller funded Mises for years). Alex Jones and crew ally with the vicious reactionaries and Ron Paul (whose son supports the establishment?s ally Mitt Romney. Alex Jones is supportive of the disinformationist group of the John Birch Society. The JBS slandered the late President John F. Kennedy and civil rights heroes). Also, these liars (some are in the alternative media crowd) have slandered the brother Trayvon Martin too. Now, the reality is that the 2 party system has supported drastic cuts to social programs that millions of human beings depend. To build up our economy, we have to address poverty and unemployment via a national program of employment & a real war on poverty. Both men debated on immigration and the Dream Act. We don?t need attacks on immigrants, the opening up of public for energy exploitation, more corporate tax cuts, wars abroad, the privatization of all of public education, and austerity (which some in both parties recommend for us). Romney made the lie that single parent households are responsible for school shootings. The President won the debate, but I was shocked that he said that free enterprise is the greatest engine of prosperity the world?s ever known. That?s the same economic system that put my and the brother President?s ancestors in chains. That?s the same system that ruin nations the world over. It isn?t it. The foreign policy agenda of both the President and Mitt Romney are nearly identical (which involves militarism). I still believe that the President is wrong on promoting anti-civil liberty laws, an extreme foreign policy, and gradual cuts to our social safety net. Both men were looking like that they want to fight each other via their body language. Candy Crowley was an excellent moderator in handling time limits and keeping the debate in order. She stood her ground and spoke her mind. The President should be treated as a man not a God (like many brainwashed Democrats act like).?Both the President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney?talked about women issues and foreign policy matters that dealt with the attack in Benghazi, Libya. Brothers like Tavis Smiley and Cornell West have been at the forefront in putting the feet to the fire of the President in great terms. They aren?t perfect, but I have more respect for them than a neo-con or a person unconditionally supporting the President no matter what. It?s just that on some issues, Mitt Romney is much worse (he ignored that if you want to grow the economy, you need a national public job creating plan that addresses poverty and discrimination). Mitt Romney is wrong for constantly switching positions in a matter of not only years, but weeks (and his economic plan is sketchy with deceptive language of deductions). Overall, the President won the debate in an apparently strong?fashion. So, we have a choice. Regardless of who you vote for, make sure it is the right choice for you. Don?t let anyone prevent you from voting period. Protect your rights and others around you for real. In our generation, the reactionaries are making their comeback in trying to promote archaic, neo-feudalism economic philosophies. Now, it?s the time to fight back. Here are some facts on this issue. This liar Mitt Romney said that government doesn?t create jobs. Even federal investment has created jobs in education, energy production, technology, and other realms of human society. Now, here are some facts. The deficit is largely a product of tax cuts and wars not health care costs or the stimulus. Today, the budget shortfall is slowing in a deficit at 1.1 trillion dollars for 2012. America has historically low amounts of revenue from the corporate income tax. America has the second lowest effective corporate tax rate in the world. You see corporate profits rebound from 2008 to 2012. Today, we have a debt much higher as a percentage of GDP than the debt today. That debt was owned by taxpayers and many people brought savings bonds. The debt never made postwar America poorer and the debt didn?t prevent the postwar generation to have the biggest rise in incomes and living standards in America?s history. Foreign nations have large claims on American resources, but that?s matched by 89 cents? worth of U.S. claims on foreigners. Foreigners usually put their U.S. investments into safe, low yield assets, so America earns more from its assets abroad than it pays to foreign investors. Debts aren?t harmless, but paranoia about the debt is harmful. That is why stable, modestly higher taxes on the super wealthy can be one step out of many in having better living standards. Debt is mostly money that we owe to ourselves. Since 1980, the vast majority of our debt was not financed by foreign borrowing at all. So, debt matters, but other things matters more like economic inequality and the necessity of some government spending to lower the unemployment rate. Real economic recovery is influenced by the excess of household debt. That is why some economists want the government to spend money and the private sector to repair its balance sheets (along with debt relief for homeowners as a means to improve job opportunities). When you have a recession, massive austerity will be heavily damaging to our economy. You need spending & specific investments (along with a real war on poverty to defeat income inequality, and help the poor) to get out of the slump. The reason is that austerity will cut resources, income, and cut especially necessary resources that can aid the poor. When you have a massive economic boom (which we don?t have now), then it?s time to have more targeted actions to handle the debt and deficit. Even Iceland broke all of the Austrian economic rules and they have a potent economic situation. Iceland rejected the debts given unto them by certain bankers. They arrested and convicted the bankers committing crimes and they negated the fraudulent mortgage debt (or Iceland forgave the mortgage debt). Economic genocide has been the goal of the establishment. The wider issues are ignored by many in Washington, D.C. Our economic system has been damaged by international situations of an over reliance of petroleum, political corruption, fraud, and the evil war on terror. Our economic crisis mostly was created because there was financial manipulation and institutionalized fraud. The bank bailouts were wrong since it transfer wealth to Wall Street banks without a massive change in the system. This increased public debt. It?s not a secret our enemy wants to loot taxpayer funds and destroy of state social programs as a means to promote an archaic economic philosophy. Our economic crisis is beyond just American shores. It?s an international system that desires to maintain national security and strategic objectives. US/NATO military engine promotes this slick neo-imperialism. Today, we have the borderline fascist Tea Party types and the President who sometimes appeases to the political establishment as a means to not lose votes. Yet, the corporate elite is not criticized by the mainstream media at all. The radicals and the reactionaries want to get rid of the major systems of the New Deal and Great Society programs. Wars, bailouts, and tax cuts for the rich aren?t right to harbor real economic growth. Even Webster Tarpley is rather to say that if the social safety net is radically eliminated (with health care, Social Security, etc.), then people will be exterminated. The wild thing is that the 1 percent has record profits. Suffering under the guise of sacrifice is austerity. Washington?s Blog did an excellent job in exposing how the attack on Hiroshima was unnecessary and evil. Military experts, scientists, and other experts back then even expressed reservations about dropping nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order for WWII to end. Back in 1946, there was the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey group (which was assigned by President Truman) told the public that Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped. This surrender could have occurred before December 31, 1945 according to the July 1946 report. People already know that Dwight D. Eisenhower (who was the Supreme Commander of all Allied Forces. He handle a lot of the American military policies that dealt with the European theater of WWII) disagreed with atomic weapons being bombed in Japanese soil. Dwight said these words on November 11, 1963. The Japanese were about to surrender. Now, the attacks targeted mostly civilian locations not major military installations. Also, the loss of life and the generational genetic harm to the Japanese human beings was abhorrent. U.S. Admiral William Leahy said that the bombing of massive women and children was unethical and a throwback to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. General Douglas MacArthur disagreed with the atomic bombing. The reason was that there was no military justification for it and the Japanese was willing to surrender (as long as the Emperor would remain, which later occurred after the 2 bombings came about). To his credit, MacArthur was appalled by the Potsdam declaration in July of wanting Japan to surrender unconditionally or suffer utter destruction. The nuclear weapons were used in civilian populations and Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy Lewis Strauss proposed to Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal for a non-lethal demonstration of atomic weapons (in forest). This proposal was wrong, but still better than the events itself. U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission historian J. Samuel Walker has studied the history of research on the decision to use nuclear weapons on Japan. In his conclusion he writes, ?The consensus among scholars is that the bomb was not needed to avoid an invasion of Japan and to end the war within a relatively short time. It is clear that alternatives to the bomb existed and that Truman and his advisors knew it.? President Truman allowed the bomb to be dropped, because he wanted to show the power of the U.S. against Soviet influence. The bomb droppings were the beginning of the Cold War since Truman accepted Churchill?s premise that the Soviets wanted to dominate the world under the flag of Communism. So, we know the truth in 2012. The truth is that WWII began and ended under controversial activities. It was a war that was filled with controversy. In African cultural traditions, there are always unifying themes. Black people are the original peoples on Earth and the original values of the original peoples on Earth still remain. As a member of the indigenous peoples in human history, I do reject any attempt to destroy Nature intentionally. I believe in the concept of community,?and?I believe in cooperation. I?accept a common black heritage, I believe in natural law (or moral law from the Creator or God), and I believe in contributing my talents to the world. Now, throughout history in Africa, our ancestors always believe in assisting the family unit collectively. That means is that one family member needs assistance, the whole family works together in making sure that family member is back on their feet. Selfishness is omitted from our culture. We are concerned with the whole community without some selfish individualist lust for greed and wealth. We have empathy toward our fellow human beings. There is strong power in the black collective. That?s express throughout human history. That is why whenTanzania was under Nyerere using these communal tenets reduced infant mortality, raised the life expectancy rate, and increase school enrolment (plus lowered the adult literacy rate). Also, black people regularly believe in cooperation. One of the greatest parts of spirituality and pure common sense is the respect of Nature and the creations of the Earth. Once a person use wise treatment of Nature and creations, then blessings can flow about (and a humans? spiritual and moral attitude is enhanced). In natural law, all life is sacrifice and people have right to reproduce in passing their genes to future generations.
